Microsoft Surface GO - Is Microsoft Surface Go Worth to Buy?

Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Go is an effort to introduce the best features of its luxury machines to the mid-range PC segment, but with a few compromises.

Microsoft Surface Go

The new Surface from Microsoft prioritizes style over speed and storage, but one configuration stands out more than the others.

The $550 price tag is for a model with the same Core-i5 CPU, monitor, aluminum shell, excellent keyboard, and good webcam as the other three base configurations.

However, it only has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and it lacks the integrated power button Windows Hello fingerprint reader found on the other versions.

Microsoft’s Surface lineup, which has long been a platform for the Windows ecosystem’s most innovative hardware design concepts, now includes a $549.99 laptop for the rest of us. The new Surface Laptop Go will cater to price-conscious buyers who need a sensible work-horse laptop for light computing, thanks to simplified component configurations and the absence of some of the more futuristic Surface Laptop 3 features. For most people, the $699 configuration described here is the best option. It raises the laptop’s price from “cheap” to “mid-range,” and it’s not quite as fast as similarly priced rivals with AMD Ryzen processors in terms of raw speed, but it’s still a good deal for what it offers.

Some Key Features:

  • The screen’s 3:2 aspect ratio gives it a spacious feel. Although there are fewer pixels on this device than on a regular 1,920×1,080 16:9 screen (technically, this is 1,536×1,024), it looks and feels more upscale. When scrolling through endless email or working on office papers, the vertically taller screen suits more rows (shudder). The 10-point touchscreen is very responsive.

  • This is one of the best small-laptop keyboards I’ve seen in a long time. There will be no more squeezing keys into an ever-flatter surface, as Apple did for years. There are a full-function key row and a fingerprint-resistant soft matte finish on the keycaps. Integrated power button fingerprint readers have a nice look and feel to them, so it’s a shame they’re not included in the entry-level edition. There is one snag. My left CTRL press, on the other hand, felt rigid, as if something inside the computer was blocking one of the corners.

  • It has the appearance of being a far more costly laptop. The screen’s edge-to-edge glass, thin bezels, and aluminum upper body all look and sound fantastic. It truly feels like a younger sibling to the Surface Laptop, which I also adore. The base is made of plastic. (“It’s glass fibers in polycarbonate resin!”) I can see a PR person typing furiously right now.)

  • The battery life is adequate. “Up to 13 hours of average system use,” Microsoft claims. Over the course of three days of moderately heavy use, I got 9 hours and 53 minutes of streaming video playback and only had to plug it in once. The patented Surface power connector is still clumsy to use and pops out far too quickly, but kudos for attempting to revive the MagSafe vibe.

The MS office made some significant updates with the launching of new features every time, in which the latest Office Setup today is also available at Office.com/setup.
